Overview

Renishaw is recruiting for a software engineer to join its software development team in York. In this role, you will work with cutting-edge technologies, with the potential to work across the whole of Renishaw’s technology portfolio on both new and existing products. As part of a dynamic team, you will work alongside a number of cross-disciplinary teams and will be involved in all parts of the software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

•Development of new front-end and back-end software for use with Renishaw’s metrology products
•Research and development of new technologies
•Take current code forward while improving code metrics and stability

Key requirements
•A good bachelor’s degree (minimum 2:1 grade) in a STEM subject, or the ability to demonstrate comparable knowledge and expertise.
•A good appreciation and understanding of software engineering concepts and object-oriented design and a good working knowledge of C++, along with previous demonstrable commercial experience.
•A good level of mathematical fluency, preferably with some experience of 3D geometry
•A good level of fluency in the English language and an effective communicator

Desirable requirements
•Source control systems such as Microsoft TFS
•Agile development / Scrum
•C# development
•Managed C++ development
•WPF and MVVM experience
•Experience of working with point clouds, triangulations and analytic mathematical surfaces

 

Location

York, with occasional travel to Renishaw’s head office in Gloucestershire.

Person specification

As the successful applicant you will have good attention to detail, be reliable and take pride in producing code to a production level. You will have a good grounding in mathematics and be able to apply this to solve esoteric problems through algorithmic design.
