  • Overview

    The Spectroscopy Products Division is seeking to recruit an experienced Raman Applications Scientist to work within the applications team.

     

    This role will suit a highly motivated individual who can bring knowledge and experience of using Raman instrumentation within a customer focussed environment.

     

    Working with a team of Applications Scientists, this role focuses on technical sales support and application development. The successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to grow their knowledge base of Renishaw Raman capabilities and applications with industry leading experts.

     

    This is a role requiring significant customer facing interaction, working closely with Raman application experts and sales personnel around the world. It will suit a self-motivated individual who can use their initiative and is confident when faced with pressure situations. They should have excellent attention to detail and an understanding of good scientific practice.

     

     

    Responsibilities

    • Lead new application development campaigns, presenting at international conferences, seminars and workshops

    • Training customers who have purchased Raman instrumentation

    • Support the production of marketing communications literature, including brochures, presentations, posters and notes

    Key requirements

    • PhD in a science related discipline
    • Practical experience of using Raman instrumentation
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to adapt to different industrial and academic audiences
    • The ability to multi-task, prioritise, and deliver to deadlines
    • Diligent, methodical but efficient work ethic
    • The ability to problem solve applying a logical approach
    • A high level of general computer literacy including Microsoft Office software
    • A full, valid passport; and full UK driving licence

    Desirable requirements

    • Experience analysing a variety of different sample types and mapping using Raman instrumentation
    • Knowledge of the different capabilities of the inVia Raman microscope
    • Knowledge and appreciation of how to structure analytical experiments
    • Presenting experience to varied size audiences

    As the successful applicant you will have an assured and outgoing personality which conveys and instils confidence when interacting with individuals across a range of levels within, and external to, Renishaw. You will be able to rationalise your workload and understand key parameters which affect importance and urgency. You will have the ability to meet deadlines, to multi-task and have good attention to detail. You will also be resourceful, willing to learn new skills, and able to problem solve. The ability to plan well is important as this role requires a combination of independent and team working using shared resources.
