  • Overview

    Renishaw’s Manufacturing Services Division is seeking to recruit an Electronics Production Engineer responsible for the SMT (Surface Mount Technology) production facility and application of process engineering disciplines within a challenging precision electro/mechanical assembly environment. The role includes the support / development of manufacturing processes, whilst also being responsible for driving proactive improvement activities targeting quality, product cost and waste reduction.



    • Technical support and development of the SMT, PTH & enclosure build processes that exist within the assigned manufacturing area
    • The investigation of process problems and root‑cause analysis, with the implementation of robust corrective actions
    • Continuous improvement activities within the supported areas using fact based metrics ‑ the elimination of waste, reduction of product cost, improvement of efficiency, and the enhancement of process controls
    • Analysis of process performance data to identify improvement actions
    • Maintenance of the process controls (including assembly documentation and equipment)
    • Regular interaction with the product divisions and the support services within the Manufacturing Services Division


    Key requirements

    • A degree level education in a relevant technical discipline (electronics engineering, production engineering, manufacturing systems) or a HNC/HND level education with significant exposure to the requirements of the role
    • Excellent problem solving and practical skills
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Experience working within an SMT environment and the associated PTH and enclosure build processes


    Desirable requirements

    • Proven success in the support of technically challenging, high precision engineering processes
    • Successful application of structured problem solving and statistical analysis techniques
    • A good understanding of production metrics (productivity, efficiency, waste)
    • Practical application of cellular assembly process design, support, and improvement encompassing effective control and mistake‑proofing techniques.
    • Experienced in programming, adjusting and optimising process parameters and de-bugging production equipment programs associated with an electronics assembly facility
