    We are now seeking to recruit a European Legal Counsel to be based in the Renishaw Stuttgart Germany, supporting the whole of Europe, Israel, Turkey and Russia.

     

    Key duties:

     

    This is an important role as part of a 14-strong legal team, ensuring that the Renishaw Group complies with relevant laws and regulations in the business areas in which it operates. You will report to the Head of Commercial Legal based in the UK, who reports directly to the Group GC and Company Secretary.

     

    As sole legal counsel in the Renishaw GmbH Stuttgart office, you will have direct contact across all parts of the business, including the directors and senior managers, on corporate, compliance and commercial contracts, and to provide guidance on EU regulatory matters. You should be prepared to give practical advice to senior management, and you will be involved in shaping business strategies and implementing corporate policies.

     

    In addition, you will:

    • Review, draft, and negotiate a broad range of agreements with customers and suppliers, confidentiality agreements, and complex commercial agreements.
    • Provide guidance on business and legal risks to internal teams as needed.
    • Assist in implementing and maintaining appropriate policies and procedures to ensure the company’s compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including privacy and consumer protection compliance, and assess potential risk where there might be alternatives.
    • Help build and improve form agreements and legal processes.
    • Help develop, communicate and train European personnel on policies, procedures and compliance generally.
      Liaise with outside counsel as appropriate.
    • Act as a business partner to support the achievement of the organization’s operational goals and strategies. Regular travel throughout Europe, Israel, Turkey and Russia to support internal clients.
    • The role is required to assist in the setting up of a legal function in the European continent. As part of your induction you will spend a period of time in the UK and will then operate out of the Stuttgart. You will be instrumental in reviewing the legal and regulatory requirements of Renishaw and other Renishaw Group companies across Europe. 

    Key requirements

    • A German Law degree or (other appropriate European legal qualification) with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
    • The ideal candidate should have a solid grounding in commercial and corporate law.
    • Individuals with in‑house experience in corporations with global businesses will be particularly well suited for this role.
    • Familiarity with automotive/other industrial business would be beneficial.
    • Experience of EU Privacy laws would be beneficial.
    • Confidence and competence in working in a multicultural environment and the ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels in the organization, including Board members.
    • Native German fluency and excellent English (oral and written) are required - other language skills welcomed.
    • Superior written and oral communication skills with excellent presentation skills.
