  • Overview

    Spectroscopy Products Division is a market leader in Raman Spectroscopy, providing high end spectrometer systems to a worldwide market. The division has a vacancy for a senior electronics design engineer to work with a multi-disciplined and innovative team of engineers on new and current products, offering a varied and interesting portfolio of design work including the development of; low noise analogue, CCD imaging, motor control systems and power conversion. The senior role includes the opportunity to provide leadership, supervision and mentoring to other engineers in the division.

     

    Responsibilities

    • The design, development and verification of electronic circuits and systems from concept through to final product;
    • Close interaction with other disciplines within the team, including mechanical, software, optics and production engineering;
    • the opportunity to supervise other engineers.

    Key requirements 

    • A degree in Electronics Engineering (minimum 2:1) or equivalent;
    • A knowledge of digital electronics, microprocessor systems and firmware development;
    • A knowledge of low noise analogue electronics and data acquisition;
    • Experience using EDA and simulation tools (e.g. Altium, Zuken, Spice or similar);
    • Practical skills including soldering, PCB rework, circuit testing and use of test equipment;
    • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills. 

    Desirable requirements

    • An understanding of low noise CCD based camera systems;
    • An understanding of precision motor control systems;
    • A knowledge of FPGAs and an understanding of VHDL;
    • Practice in writing firmware in C programming language and assembler;
    • Knowledge of EMC and electrical safety standards;
    • Knowledge of C++/C# programming.
