  • Overview

    An exciting vacancy has arisen for a Patent Trainee / Searcher to join Renishaw’s established patents team. The role will involve working closely with Renishaw’s engineers and divisional management teams to help secure the best possible patent protection for Renishaw products in major countries worldwide. Initially this will involve reviewing invention disclosures and patent searching activities, but for the right candidate there will also be the opportunity to train as a Patent Attorney. 



    • Performing clearance and prior art patent searches.
    • Reviewing invention disclosures and liaising with Renishaw Engineers.
    • Supporting the wide range of activities undertaken by Renishaw’s team of Patent Attorneys.

    Key requirements

    • A good degree in a science or engineering discipline.
    • Experience of performing in-depth patent searches.
    • Some knowledge of IP, especially patents.

    Desirable requirements

    • A keen interest in new technology.
    • Experience working in an IP environment.
    • Formal IP training.

    Opportunities for career development and training

    • Opportunity to train as a UK/European Patent Attorney (subject to line manager approval).
    • Opportunities for further training on searching and/or other aspects of IP.

    The ideal candidate will be a clear thinker with good technical and organisational skills. They will have already gained some knowledge of IP and have experience of performing patent searching activities. Ideally, the candidate would also have a desire to learn more about IP and aspire to qualify as a UK and European Patent Attorney. Candidates wishing to work part-time will also be favourably considered.
