  • Overview

    Reporting to Renishaw’s Group CAE Manager, the successful applicant will support the development of best practice for requirements management and use of Siemens Polarion tool. The role includes ongoing enhancement, configuration, maintenance and training of the tool.


    The increasing diversity and complexity of Renishaw’s product offerings creates challenges in managing the hierarchy of requirements i.e. customer, business, compliance, system, sub-system, and associated verification and validation artefacts. The role, by enhancing capabilities in this area, will support improving the effectiveness of our new product development processes.


    Aligned with system engineering activities, the role is focused on ensuring Polarion, its associated processes, templates and reports, are available to support new product development. This will be achieved by working closely with product divisions to understand their objectives, needs and system engineering methodologies.


    Training on Requirements Management practices and Polarion will be provided.



    • Provide best practice guidance on writing and managing requirements.
    • User training and mentoring on Polarion processes and templates.
    • Develop templates and reports to ensure V&V artefacts are traceable.
    • Develop reports to assist stakeholders with decision-making at key design and gate reviews.
    • Configure boundaries between Polarion and other business tools (e.g. TFS / Jira).
    • Licence monitoring.
    • Helpdesk bug fixing support.
    • Evaluate and implement new functionality in software releases.

    Key requirements

    • At least 3 years’ experience in a relevant product development environment.
    • Minimum HNC level in an engineering discipline.
    • Confidence in communicating and presenting at all levels in the business.

    Desirable requirements

    • Experience of requirements management and systems engineering methodologies.
    • Experience of product verification and validation processes.
    • Familiarity with software database tools and their configuration.
    • Experience in using HTML/XML, SQL, JavaScript or similar.

    The successful applicant will be a highly organized self-starter with an interest in requirements management and systems engineering methodologies. Good attention to detail and clear verbal and written communication skills are essential.



    The role is based at the New Mills site with occasional travel to sites within the UK. Travel to overseas sites may occasionally be required.
