  • Overview

    Renishaw’s Manufacturing Services Division has a vacancy within its supply chain development team for a Buyer to support project purchasing activities. These activities include sourcing a wide range of proprietary and bespoke products to meet requirements of product development divisions.


    The role entails sourcing sustainable and capable supply chains for new items required in developing bill of materials, to the point of stability allowing transfer to the supply chain management (production) purchasing team.



    • Supplier selection for new items to support new product development teams
    • Working with concurrent design teams to ensure new items can be manufactured to specification
    • Identification and realisation of cost reduction opportunities for new items
    • Identification of supply chain risks and mitigation activities
    • Negotiation of supply agreements where required
    • Provide clear reporting of project status, concerns and opportunities
    • Converting requisitions and placing purchase orders to meet planning demand
    • Providing support for supply chain development teams as necessary
    • Expediting open purchase orders to ensure on time delivery
    • Ensuring prompt resolution to invoice, quality and delivery queries
    • Maintaining accurate records and data within the company MRP system to assess part suitability for transfer to production

    Key Requirements

    • Experience working within a purchasing environment ideally within concurrent design teams
    • Experience of working within a manufacturing or engineering environment
    • The ability to demonstrate experience in sourcing new bespoke and proprietary items
    • The ability to demonstrate experience of supplier selection and introduction
    • GCSE’s at grade C or above in English and Maths

    Desirable Requirements

    • Knowledge of MRP functionality will also be of benefit
    • Good computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office
    • Knowledge of MRP functionality will also be of benefit
    • CIPS (or working towards) or equivalent qualification
