    Renishaw is a world leader in dimensional metrology and is recruiting a Software Engineer to be part of the Laser and Calibration Products division (LCPD) at its Technical Centre located in South Gloucestershire.


    Joining a dynamic team composed of dedicated and experienced software engineers, this software department is responsible for developing saleable applications that are used to evaluate, calibrate and otherwise enhance motion system performance. In addition, this position will support production through the creation of test rigs and hardware design with the use of prototyping.



    The role supports laser and calibration products, which are used to deliver significant cost savings, and improvements in quality for applications using CNC machine tools throughout many industries, which will encompass a variety of activities such as:

    • Helping to develop and support commercial applications
    • Supporting other design disciplines and production in the creation of exciting new products
    • Contributing to the full range of software engineering activities from requirements capture through to maintenance


    Key Requirements

    All applicants are required to have the following:

    • You will hold a degree in one of the following subjects areas; physics, mathematics, computer science, software engineering or systems engineering with demonstrable experience in software development; 
    • Demonstrable understanding of programming language: C# and the .Net framework;
    • You will be an innovator and highly motivated;
    • Be keen to keep your skill set up to date and be a clear communicator;
    • Your approach is both logical and accurate; and 
    • Be capable of working with and actively contributing to an established scrum team.

    In all circumstances, any lack of experience may be compensated by a keen desire to learn new technologies and to make a valued contribution to a successful multidisciplinary team. 


    Although not a prerequisite, it would be desirable if applicants have some experience of the following:

    • Agile development (specifically working as a member of a Scrum team);
    • Firmware development;
    • BDD/TDD;
    • A mathematical background; and 
    • Knowledge of the following: C/C+ and WPF.
