  • Overview

    Renishaw is a global leader in the design and development of inspection probe technology and metrology systems. Due to organisational growth we are recruiting a Design Team Leader to join the laser and calibration products division (LCPD) at our HQ in Wotton-under-Edge.


    You may be an experienced Mechanical Design/Development Engineer wishing to elevate your career. This position offers variety, an opportunity to lead product design within the current products team. You'll be given the chance to impart your knowledge and guide a small team of engineers, interfacing with new product and manufacturing teams where necessary.

    • Evolving and maintaining product system designs capable of measuring to sub-micrometre resolution which include precision optical, electronic and mechanical technology
    • Developing prototype testing and analysis of data to support the design
    • Investigating product performance issues, providing solutions to a timescale
    • Designing test systems and processes for use in manufacturing
    • Working closely with manufacturing engineers to ensure best practice for manufacture and assembly
    • Managing aspects of the projects and engineers/technicians in order to meet the project milestones

    Key requirements

    • You'll hold a degree in subject areas; physics, electronics, mechanical engineering or any engineering related subject
    • Proven ability to achieve in the design of electro-optical systems and assemblies
    • Demonstrable experience in a product development environment
    • Proven ability to demonstrate an innovative approach to design
    • Possess problem solving and attention to detail skills
    • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplined team
