  • Overview

    Renishaw’s Group Engineering Division in Edinburgh are looking for an experienced assembly operative.

    As the successful applicant you will be involved in the assembly and inspection of products to a specified quality standard, in-line with a defined production schedule. You will work closely with internal R&D and design teams on production and pre-production systems, and will have a “can do” attitude. You will also be able to communicate well and have a proven record of good time-keeping and attendance. This is a chance for an experienced operator to join a new and exciting operation within the business. With this role comes the benefit of starting early on the project and being able to influence process development.

     

    Responsibilities:

    • Assemble and inspect products to defined standards. The processes will involve optical, mechanical and electrical components.
    • Follow instructions, both written and verbal, and highlight any deficiencies observed in the process.
    • Help to develop, support and implement new processes and procedures where identified.
    • Be involved in all aspects of the manufacture from goods-in to despatch.
    • Receive, store, locate, pick, kit and pack components and finished products.
    • Carry out inspection and test of materials, parts and sub-assemblies.
    • Use the skills and techniques acquired during training, to work in an efficient and quality conscious manner so that product quality and production targets are met.
    • Inform supervisors of any problems that exist which may affect the quality of the product.
    • Work sensibly and safely at all times, ensuring compliance with Health and Safety regulations and reporting all Health and Safety concerns immediately.
    • Maintain a clean and ordered work environment and adhere to cleanroom operating procedures.

    Key requirements:

    • Electro-mechanical assembly experience.
    • Basic electronic assembly skills: soldering, wiring and PCB assembly.
    • A high level of dexterity.
    • Good eyesight, with spectacles/lenses if worn.
    • The flexibility to adapt and continually improve.
    • The confidence to operate machinery, test equipment and computer systems, incl MS Office products
    • The ability to read and correctly interpret build instructions.
    • Proficiency with technical information (e.g., engineering drawings, standard operating procedures and quality requirements).
    • Experience with typical electro-mechanical assembly techniques found in a production environment.
    • A minimum of four N5/GCSE A-C passes (or equivalent), including Maths and English
